* * * * * SORRY for the massive delay! I'm was on vacation this month, and on the day I had to go back to work...I got attacked by a swarm of bees. oAo; So I was recovering....while painfully playing Tears of the Kingdom with my swollen hands. But I'm back and I'm gonna spam y'all with LOTS of art. Hopefully daily, or every other day. That being said, time for the actual description! XD

NEW CHARACTERS!!! 8D Well, two of them. >v<
Kes is on top, while the bottom characters you see are Kia, and Kavik. Do you notice something familiar about them? One has horns made of ice, while the others has a giant scorpion ice tail. There’s another character of mine that has these features. Do you know who????
If you guessed Rupion, then you’re correct!!! Kia and Kavik are the parents of Rupion! ^o^
----
So, before I go any further, let’s talk about some Ice Leo lore!!! (You must know basic knowledge of my Ice Leo species, their customs, as well as Kes’ family tree. I will provide links when possible)
I mentioned before in this illustration that baby Ice Leos scrap and play with each other. Baby ice Leos have A LOT of energy to burn, so Parents let many of the toddlers play and rummage with one another. Many toddler Leos who do this, end up becoming friends as they grow older. It’s a common practice. It helps the youngsters determine their strengths and weaknesses, or who they’re compatible with. Kes is no different. She spared and scrapped with Kia and Kavik as toddlers, and they ended up as best friends!! ^o^
------
Let's go off track real quick and talk about a typical Ice Leo hunting squad. All veteran/ professional hunting squads consists of 10 members:
1 tracker: Tracks the animals for the hunters.
1 navigator: The navigator leads the squad back to the village, OR neighboring villages to trade with. They are to know and study the land, and inform the squad when something feels too unsafe or dangerous.
1 Lookout: They are to make sure there is no one following or hunting them.
1 bodyguard: This is mainly for trades with other clans. They are considered the strongest and deadliest in the squad.
4 hunters: They hunt and kill the prey.
2 Gathers: They clean the kill, as well as gathering plants and material.
For Kes’ squad, there’s only 3. This is VERY rare, but it’s not hard to see why. Kes has been trained by 3 Chiefs. Frost, Glacine, and Wulfric. She knows just about everything there is about hunting, tracking, gathering and fighting. She is a massive force to be reckoned with, being born from a long line of powerful Chiefs. Kavik’s dad is one of the best bodyguards in the village, and has been trained under him ever since he was a child. Kavik is fierce and strong- even Wulfric is impressed by his strength and vigor. Kia’s has a very unique way of fighting. Using ice and mixing it with a type of poisonous venom, she forms a large scorpion like tail that is easily able to take down enemies. Her tail is based off of South Nova’s deathly Ice Scorpion. They are incredibly deathly if you’re stung by one, but for some reason, they don’t attack Kia. She sees them as companions- and she’s able to harvest many vials of venom for her tail.
---------
With that out of the way, let’s talk about the relationship these 3 share! Kes sees them how Meta sees Arthur, Nonsurat, Falspar and Dragato. They are her comrades as well as an extension of her family. Kes trusts them with her life, and vice versa. When Meta and Bate first arrived (This piece here) Kia and Kavik were worried about Kes since Wulfric placed the two outsiders in his home until the blizzard passes. As much as they wanted to visit Kes and see the outsiders, their parents forbid it. (But they did end up meeting Meta for a very short time when Kes showed him around the village.) Their views on outsiders were slightly changed, but both were still cautious unlike Kes.
During this piece here, when Kes left to visit Meta in Kalmari Town. Kia and Kavik stalled as much as they could before they eventually had to tell Wulfric where she went. When Kes returned home, all three were grounded for a month. Kes would thank the pair, and gifted the two a bag of candy she got when Meta took her to see Marlo. Candy is quite rare in South Nova, so when they tasted chocolate for the first time, they easily accepted Kes’ apology. Kes would still talk about the outside world. Her time with Meta and his friends. Kia and Kavik have long moved passed it, but don’t interrupt Kes anytime she brings it up. They know how important the outsider called ‘Meta’ means to her.
During their teenage years, all three participated in ‘The Trials” Which is, in a way, a right of passage for all Ice Leos. It’s like a giant obstacle course to test the next generation of Ice Leo, and prepare them for their future role in the village. (Tulok has done it here, but failed.)
Kes, Kia, and Kavik joined together, and all three passed with flying colors. They all helped and assisted one another- covering their weakness and supporting one another throughout it all. Now, these Trials are to test ones SELF. It’s not often Leos are seen helping one another during the trials. But to the surprise of the elders, it was quite the spectacle to witness. All three acted as one. They flowed seamlessly in such a way, no one has ever seen such a performance held at the trials before.
Because of their teamwork, all three finished long before the rest did. Many believe it’s the fastest record to date. And the three kids started cheering and hugging one another in joy! Frost, being the one who personally trained Kes, congratulated them. He told the trio he expects great things from them, especially Kes. Who is to take the role as Chief one day.
Due to their skills and teamwork, they formed their own squad with the permission of Wulfric. Kes, the leader, Kia the hunter, and Kavik and bodyguard. All three would share equal work, though, since they lack the traditional 10-man team. Though they’re still young, the three are considered prodigies at what they do. The trio doesn’t really care what others see them as, they’re just happy they can hunt and be together~ Every squad has a "squad name" , and the trio came up with 'The Flurry Squad." Named after the endless flurry of snow in South Nova, and their extremely fast flurry of attacks when hunting.
Their friendship continues into their teenage years, and their early adult life. When everyone was badly poised by a demon beast, Kes left South Nova in search of help. (This fanfic located here) After being healed by Bate and the others, Wulfric allowed said outsiders to visit anytime they please. This allowed Kia and Kavik to learn more about Kes’ outsider friends. They also noticed their leader’s infatuation with Meta- often teasing and poking fun to her about it. This is also around the time Kia and Kavik start to have feelings for one another as well. Kes is not surprised in the slightest.
Kavik and Kia end up having 1 child together. Rupion. Because the trio is so close, little Rupion sees Kes as his aunt. When visiting the outside world, Kes would always bring him sweet treats and little trinkets for him. Because Kia and Kavik have a child, there is a rule stating 1 parent must stay behind during a hunt to tend to their kin. This is to prevent the child being orphaned if tragedy were to strike, and both parents die in the process. (Wulfric made this rule due to both his parents passing away when he was a child)
----
When Lady Atka request Kes’ help to watch over Kirby with Meta on Pop Star, Wulfric and Frost flat out refuses said request. Kes doesn’t agree with her Father and Grandfather and accepts. Kia and Kavik were in the room when it happened, and the pair witnessed an argument like no other. Kes is going to be Chief, and for her to abandon her role, her home, her family! It’s irresponsible, Wulfric claims. Kes claims abandoning the duty of protecting what may be the last Star Warrior in existence is irresponsible and selfish. She can’t refuse if it means keeping peace and balance in the universe.
Frost steps in and restrains Kes. He takes to her a secluded area deep underneath the village, and tells her if she’s not going to listen to reason, then he’ll make her. This specific area has only been used once before, and it was where Frost and Glaciene battled for the title of Chief, and Glaciene’s right to marry Wulfric. That being said, Wulfric knows Frost is going to challenge Kesuk, but he doesn’t step in because for once in his life, he agrees with Frost- he doesn’t want to lose his daughter. When they step into the arena, Frost tells his granddaughter how she’s so much like her mother. Stubborn, hardheaded, not willing to listen to anyone. If she wants to leave, then she’s going to have to defeat him in battle.
Kes knows his grandfather is powerful. She’s never one to go against his orders, but she knows she has no other choice. If she has to defeat her Grandfather in order to live with Meta and raise the last known Star Warrior, then she’d do it. Frost does not go easy on her. Wulfric has to force himself not to interfere, because it looks like he’s actually trying to fatally injure her. Kes does her best to gain the upper hand, but Frost is much too powerful. Being trained by him, Frost knows every technique she tried, and ends up getting battered time after time. Kes falls back, bloodied and bruised. As Frost lunges towards him in one final attack, a massive Scorpion tails halts his movements. He and Wulfric watch Kavik and Kia come to her defense. The couple don’t give Frost a moment to recover- with Kes in their arms, the pair break the surrounding walls around them to escape.
Now in a safe location, Kavik is patching kes’ wounds, while Kia presents her with a Purple Warp Star. With seriousness in Kia’s eyes, she asks if this is what she truly wants. To live on another planet, to raise a child and lose the role of becoming Chief. They may never see one another again. Is she really willing to give all of it up? When Kes nods, Kia and Kavik are saddened by her decision, but give a nod of support before they all hug one another. Kes promises they’ll see each other again, one day. But for now, her duties are needed elsewhere.
It didn’t take long for Frost and Wulfric to take notice of the sudden commotion in town. Freeing themselves from the rubble, they’re shocked to see many of the guards knocked out. Frost sees the three heading to the outer wall, and orders Wulfric to help stop them. They quickly catch up them, but Kavik and Kia orders Kes to keep running- they’ll take on Frost and Wulfric.
Wulfric is considered the strongest Leo in the village, second by Frost. While Kia and Kavik put up a good fight, they were eventually overpowered. Frost goes after Kes while Wulfric keeps an eye on the pair. Kia pleads with Wulfric. She reluctantly tells him Kes isn’t happy here; even as kids, she always wanted to pursue her life with the outsiders. Wulfic doesn’t care, and says he’s not losing his daughter. Kia says he will if he doesn’t let her go. She promises she’ll return one day. But if he prevents this, their bond will be beyond repairable.
This takes a lot of effort on Wulfric's part, but he eventually listens to the pair, and runs to the direction of Frost to stop him. Kes is currently using Meta’s Warp Star to fly over the wall, but Frost is right behind her. As he’s about to finally reach her, Wulfric appears from above and tackles Frost. They are both injured when they crash to the floor, but to Wulfric’s relief, Kes escapes.
With Kes no longer being their squad leader, Kia and Kavik are placed in another group. But due to Rupion, one has to be left behind while the other hunts. Since Kia and Kavik only had each other, and Kes when hunting, they aren’t able to adapt well in a 10-man squad. None are compatible with the other hunters, and they honestly hate they can’t hunt together anymore.
One day, while Kia is out hunting, news got out of a massive ice break in the hunting grounds. Many Leos plunged into the ocean below, and Kavik, along with Wulfric, raced out of the village to help them. To his horror, he saw Kia trying to save many of the Leos who were struggling to stay afloat. He raced to her and ordered her to stay with the others while he and Wulfric handles it. Both jumped into the water to help many of them back to land.
When everyone is finally rescued and secured, another break in the ice caused everyone to fall back to safer grounds. The break was twice as big than the last, and it caused chunks of the floor below to rise up before crashing back down. Kia was hit, and she fell into the ocean while waves and blocks of ice continued to destroy the land. Kavik didn’t hesitate, and he jumped into the ocean to try to save her. Wulfric followed suit, and used all his power to freeze everything around him. Even with all his strength, the ocean waves couldn’t be stopped, and the ice continued to break. With little to no energy left, another squad member grabbed Wulfric out of the water, and helped him back to the village.
Two Ice Leos lost their lives that day- both being Rupion's parents. The bodies were eventually recovered, and laid to rest. Wulfic would take it upon himself to continue raising and training Rupion. (Though, please note- Rupion has one living relative left. His maternal Grandmother He lives with her, but trains with Wulfric.)
When news reached Kes, she completely broke down in tears. She couldn’t believe it- her two closest friends and comrades were now gone. Meta does his best to comfort her, but it does little to ease her. She immediately left Pop Star and headed back to her village to talk to her father. (Meta followed along, while Kirby is left in the hands of Bate back in Kalmari Town) She asked about Rupion, and Wulfric says he’s taken the child under his wing to train him. Kes asks if she could adopt him. She’ll look after him, and raise him alongside Kirby, but Wulfric denies her request. For that to happen, that would require him to move to Pop Star. A child of ice won’t be able to handle the temperatures on Pop Star. Wulfric reassures Kes, and tells him he’ll do everything to make sure Rupion becomes a fine warrior that’ll make his parents proud.
Kes will never forget the time she spent with Kia and Kavik. Without their help, she wouldn't be living on Pop Star and have a family with Meta. They’ve done so much for her, and she’s forever grateful she was lucky enough to know them. Kes does her best to visit South Nova 2 or 3 times out of the year. She brings many gifts and sweets for Rupion, and helps train him if he requests it. Rupion still sees Kes as family, and calls her Aunty.
Kes has never formed another bond like the one she had with Kia and Kavik. They say the ones you grow up with are your comrades and friends for life. Once they pass on, moving on and forming new friendships is VERY difficult- even next to impossible. (Due to the Leo's forming these friendships as toddlers.) Kes is not able to be in another squad, and she prefers to hunt alone now. Wulfric allows it only because he knows his daughter is strong and skilled enough to do so.
*Side note: When Tulok moves to South Nova to train to be the next Chief, Rupion helps and trains him as well~ ^o^
