More than Words
(Sir Falspar)
(Sir Falspar)
Falspar is grateful he was brought up by two supporting parental figures. Rasmet and Gravel are always there to back him up and cheer him on. Anytime he is hesitant or feeling doubtful, they are always there to offer a supporting hand or helpful advise. His brother, Dragato, is the same. Everyone in his life always made him feel important- he never once felt alone or lost because of them. Throughout his life, he always had someone by his side- teacher, comrades, friends. And for that, Falspar is truly grateful for it.
But now…..without his network of support….
He’s never felt more alone.
Troubled eyes look at the crude words painted on his locker. His wings lower as slow footsteps make his way to it. Reaching under his pauldrons, he pulls out a small cloth and tries his best to remove it before anyone else enters the hall. The paint smudges and starts to make a mess of things anytime he tries to rub a portion of it off. It leaves his locker with large smears of red everywhere, and his gloves were beginning to stain as well. The words, now faded, could still be read if one were to squint hard enough, but there was nothing left he could do at this point. He’d have to head back to his room to get some water, or-
“Do you know who wrote that on your locker?” A voice speaks. It echos through the quiet hall, and it was soon replaced by footsteps as the figure walked closer next to him. Meta Knight, the youngest of the siblings, glances at Falspar and places a hand on his shoulder. “We can report it to one of the captains. Get them removed from our squad."
“It still won’t make them stop.” Falspar speaks quietly. Usually his mood would be cheery and upbeat when he spoke to him, but after everything that’s been happening to him over the last week, he’s long lost his boisterous attitude.
Falspar looks on as Meta pulls a rag from under his armor as well to help clean it up a bit.
“I’m sorry I haven’t been around to notice. Arthur’s been assigning me loads of work, and I’ve been out on the field due to it. Margalo informed me all about it once I got back.” He said, removing his hand from the locker when most of the writing is removed.
“I know Arthur’s placed you in a very hectic possession, there’s no need to apologize. ” Falspar gives a weary smile. With Arthur being captain, and Meta being his right hand man, it almost feels like he was forgotten and left behind. Dragato and Nonsurat long left the GSA, and he and Arthur haven’t been seeing eye to eye as of late. Maybe that’s why he’s been ignoring and turning a blind eye to all of this.
“I’ll be fine…r-really.” He opens his locker to put his belongings back inside. Several pieces of paper scatter the floor soon after, and the two warriors see an array of derogatory names written on each parchment. Falspar picks one of them up and lets out a tired sigh. “Though sometimes I think things would be so much easier if I still had Dragato or Nonsurat by my side….”
Meta quietly watches as his comrade starts to pick up the fallen pieces of paper to throw them away. Part of him wishes he could do something more for his comrade, but with how tight Arthur is running things as captain, he barely has time for anything as of late. While he and Pyrell may not be the best of friends, he’s clearly special to Falspar.
“Does Pyrell know about it?” He finally decides to bring him up.
Falspar doesn’t answer at first, and continues to clean the last bits of paper before addressing the issue. He leans up against the locker for support and gives a troubled frown.
“He’s still recovering in the ward from the latest mission we had, and I doubt anyone would heckle him for fear of their life.”
Meta gives a small hum. The mission. It was what caused this entire mess to happen. Meta and several others where there to whiteness it. An all powerful demon beast. Waves of fighters being taken down one by one. Meta watched as Falspar entered the fray and putting up quite the fight before ultimately being struck. Pyrell, who originally wasn’t part of the assignment, caught word from Drani of the situation. Meta remembers the exact moment Pyrell entered the battle, the entire planet felt like it was on fire.
A whirlwind of fire and flame shot through the battlefield like a bullet, and Meta didn’t have time to react before the beast was horrifically set ablaze from the inside out. Pyrell- Nicknamed 'Fire Demon from Hell’ due to his unhinged, raw strength and power, showed genuine care and concern once the battle abruptly ended. He was seen gently helping Falspar back to safety where both ended up being treated for their injuries in the ward. Falspar’s injuries not being as major as Drani first thought- only suffering minor sprains and cuts, where her master had to stay for several weeks for 2 broken bones and a dislocated disk in his back.
Falspar has been seen visiting him around the clock to keep him company- bringing lots to get well gifts in the form of sweets and Nova Crunch. Of course, being Pyrell, he would show distaste and annoyance once Falspar overstayed his welcome, but as time went on, conversations spanned over hours. It didn’t take long for anyone who entered the ward to notice that Falspar had a thing for the hotheaded Burning Leo. Once the rest of the troops found out, that’s when the harassment began.
“Besides….” Falspar speaks up again. “Why get him all riled up when he can’t even move.”
Meta knight keeps quite.
“I can handle anything they dish out.” He claims with confidence.
Meta can sense his voice faltering.
“They can’t break me. I’m not going to fold so easily to them.”
Meta knows he’s lying to himself.
“They’re wrong, y’know.” Falspar’s voice lowers. “I’m not a freak….”
Falspar looks at the filled bin of crumpled pieces of paper and grits his teeth in anger. “I did nothing wrong.”
“I know you didn’t.”
“Then why are they making it seem like I did?!!” He finally snaps back. "Out-casting me, shaming me! I’m no different from them!! I’m still a solider!!! I can fight, I can fight better than anyone in our whole platoon!!! Do you think I’d be treated the same way back in Kalamari?"
Meta waited for his comrade to calm down before heading over to comfort him. “This isn’t Kalmari, Falspar. Things....are different here.”
“It shouldn’t be….’ He mumbles as he turns away when he felt tears starting to fall.
“I know.”
“Things...aren’t going to get better, are they?”
Meta eyes the red stained locker before slightly frowning. “It’s not. Not until you tell Pyrell.”
“But-“
“Falspar, listen to me.” Meta kneels down and locks eyes with him. “If Pyrell's all the incredible and amazing things you’ve been telling me for over the past year, then he will help you. You’re the only one who is able to form a genuine friendship with him. No one has been able to do what you’ve done- not even those who have worked with him for years. If he’s what you claim he is, he’ll put a stop to it the second he gets out.”
Falspar hesitates.
“And if not, then I’ll just have to tell him mysel-“
“There is no need for that, Sir Meta Knight.”
A voice calls out, and both warriors jolt in surprise form the the sudden intruder. A pink- salmon colored bird swoops in and gently sits on Falspar’s pauldon. She inspect the writing on the lockers, and looks up at the warrior in concern.
“D-Drani, I…I didn’t expect you to be here.” Falspar is the first to speak.
“My Master hasn’t seen you in the last few days. He wanted to make sure nothing came of harm to you, but since he’s still unable to move, I went in his place instead.”
“Oh, I see….” He says, a small part of him couldn’t help but smile when Pyrell showed concern. “Well…tell him not to worry. I’m okay.”
“But…are you? I apologize for not letting my presence known sooner, but I overheard what you and Sir Meta Knight were talking about. Sir Falspar, if my Master caught wind of this abuse, you know he’d-“
“Drani, I’d rather not let him get involved while he’s recovering.”
“He’s going to find out once he’s released, and he’ll be hurt to know you never told him about it.” She says.
Drani, Pyrell’s guardian, knows him better than anyone else. If she speaks on behalf of Pyrell, then it will always have a ring of truth to it. Would Pyrell truly be hurt he didn’t tell him?
“Sir Falspar….” Drani speaks. This time she flutters to the floor so she could get a better look at him. Meta watches for a bit longer before taking his leave. He knows he’s not needed anymore, and leaves the rest to Pyrell’s Guardian.
“Let me assure you the feelings you share for him are not one-sided. Know you are never alone for carrying this burden on your own. If he finds out what the other soldiers have been doing to you, he will blame himself for not stepping in. I know my Master is not easily expressive with his emotions like you, but he truly sees you as someone special to him. I am not able to say the exact words he feels directly to you, I will leave Lord Pyrell to say it when he’s ready.”
Falspar reaches down to offer a hand. Drani perches herself on it, as he lifts her close to him. “And….” He hesitates for a moment. “Y…You’re okay with it?” He asks. “A..about your master and I….?.”
"Oh, Sir Falspar.” She happily chirps, that being the least of her concerns. “If he is happy being with you, then I am too. You not need to worry, I know he will be in good hands if the time comes and you would like to pursue a future with him. And I trust my master will make the right decision as well~” She gives a reassuring smile. “Truth to be told, I had hoped one day someone would be able to get my master to open up. It’s only been the two of us for as long as we can remember. Us verses the world. He pushes everyone away and says he doesn’t need anyone else, but I know he would never get past his demons unless someone of the purest intentions were to help him.”
And Drani uses her tail to gently caress the side of his face. “And that someone is you, Sir Falspar. From the moment I saw you interact with my master, I know you were someone different. You never gave up on him no matter how many times he pushed you away. You always had the funniest ways of cheering him up or trying to make him smile. You have helped him slowly move on from a tremendous part of trauma in his life, and I know Lord Pyrell would not hesitate to protect you in return. The latest mission should tell you all you need to know about his feelings towards you.”
And Drani is never wrong, Falspar knows this for sure. Pyrell, for all his cold and broodiness, really does like him. And some part of Falspar is relieved to finally hear it. Not from Pyrell directly, but hearing Drani say it is just as comforting.
“Okay.” He agrees. Knowing he’s not alone in this, he finally decides to reach out. He stares at the graffiti stained locker with Drani following soon after, before Falspar gives her a confident grin" “I will tell him, tomorrow.”
Drani lets out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding.
“You’ll going to be okay, Sir Falspar.” She perches herself back on his pauldrons and nuzzles the side of his cheek. “You’re more than the words they write. Never forget that."
“I know. ” He believes her. “Thank you, Drani.”

Believe it or not, I finished this of May of last year. I have no idea how I forgot about this piece. I stumbled upon it in my folders and realized it was never posted! oAo So I apologize if the art itself looks old- because it is. XDD
Anyways, let’s talk a bit about this piece. I’ll be referencing another one-shot below. Link will be provided.
Like the story says, Falspar would’ve talked to Pyrell about the harassment the next day. But in this story here, Falspar never got the chance because the ones who were heckling him dragged him to the showers to beat him up. When Falspar didn’t show up, Drani informed Pyrell what happened the day prior, and the Leo practically leaped out of his bed to find him. He knows something happened to Falspar, he’s never the type to break a promise.
Of course, this leads Pyrell finding the platoon surrounding a bloodied and battered Falspar on the floor. Pyrell absolutely lost it that day, and he nearly killed everyone who was responsible for taking part of it. Drani, Alto, and Meta had to restrain him to prevent any casualties. No reports were filed against Pyrell because the ones responsible didn’t want to have what they did to Falspar on their record. Going forward, no one dared bothered Falspar.
Pyrell stayed by Falspar’s side until he recovered. During said time, their feelings for one another became known. It’s taken much time for Pyrell to form the words, but he finally confessed his love for the other. It doesn’t take long for Falspar to return it, obviously. Drani and Alto were in the room when it was exchanged, and both couldn’t be happier for their other halves.
Hopefully I can create a proper timeline of their GSA days. I have already told someone the entirety of it several months ago, so I think I’ll just copy and past what I said. XD Because it’s a pretty beefy arc, and a lot of stuff happens during it. ;v;
