Surprised to see this character after a long time. ovo
When I was working on the GW timeline, the mention of Nonsurat and Marlo's child made me want to discuss a few things regarding him. I kinda left a lot of stuff in the dark, but now I feel comfortable enough in my writing to finally talk about him.
This character has appeared very shortly in my series.
First appearance is here.
Hinted/mentioned here
And another here.
So let's talk about him- Who he is, their legacy in the series, and some other things I never talked about.
Let's start out by his name. This little babs name is Caspius. (A mixture of Caspian and Cassius.)
Caspius is the child of Marlo and Nonsurat. As the previous illustrations mentioned/hinted, Marlo lost the child due to a demon beast attack. Caspius was stillborn when she was rushed to the hospital.
----
There is a brief story on it, so I'll post a summary below:
After the sudden passing of his father, Sir Gordon, Nonsurat fell into a depressive state where he was not able to work. Marlo was already in her third trimester during the passing, so she did what she could do to for their business, while tending to Nonsurat.
Marlo would handle small deliveries since she's not able to fly her plane until their child is born. Since Nonsurat was in no condition to pilot, Marlo would deliver by foot. During one delivery to the neighboring town, (It had to be no more than 30 minutes away) Marlo was attacked by a demon beast. Demon Beast attacks are uncommon, so word eventually spread, and many of Marlo's closest friends caught wind of the attack. Once Bate heard the commotion, he rushed to Nonsurat to inform him.
To this day, Nonsurat blames himself for the loss of their child. He would tell his comrades and past mentor (Bate) if he would've been by her side, or took the plane instead, their child would be alive. He regrets so many things that lead to the death, and despite what others say, he will always carry the burden of the loss.
----------
The next part I would like to talk about is how Cellic ended up finding out about Caspius. Marlo and Nonsurat never told Cellic about their late child, as it was too painful to bring up for both parents. I'll post a small summary below:
Because the birth of Caspius was only a few weeks away, Marlo and Nonsurat already had everything set up for their newborn. Their child's room was filled with everything one could think of. Lots of toys, books, stroller, crib, bottles, blankets, and anything else for an infant. One important item is his baby-book. After the passing of Caspius, many of these items have been stored or donated.
Cellic and his cousins end up finding this book in his parent's room. A name was etched on the cover "Knight Caspius" Atticus recognizes what it is, and tells the others it's called a baby book. He tells them he has one back at home, and it has a bunch of stuff about him when he was a baby- like growth, or birthdays.
When Cellic opens it, he finds out it's completely empty. Kirby comes up with an idea why, and he says it's because they're not born yet. His cousins agree, and everyone begins to think Cellic is going to be a big brother now. Excited, they all start to prepare for them. They begin rearranging his room, his bed, organizing his toys, and start drawing in the baby book.
Marlo and Nonsurat spot the 4 rushing to the kitchen to gather food suitable for an infant. When they ask what they're up to, they did not expect to hear the name of their late son. Cellic says he and his cousins are preparing for the new baby. He tells them they found his baby book, and want to make sure they have everything ready for his arrival.
This shocks the pair, and Nonsurat does his best to comfort Marlo before ushering the kids out to talk to them. The atmosphere shifts, and the cousins are confused why.
Nonsurat leads them back to Cellic's room, and he spots the baby-book on the center floor. He gently picks it up, and spots all the drawings they made inside of it. They all watch in silence as Nonsurat looks through it before Cellic finally speaks. He apologizes if they did something wrong to upset them. They were just excited he was going to be a big brother.
Nonsurat closes the book and gives the four a somber smile before giving the Gordo a small head-pat. Nonsurat tells them they don't need to apologize, but does inform the group that Cellic will not be a big brother. He tells them the book belongs to another, and begins to tell them about Cellic's older brother, Caspius. Marlo enters the room later on, and joins Nonsurat.
It was a moment of healing, says the couple. They would answer their questions, and took notice how Cellic's eyes lit up once he found out he was actually the younger of the two. They feel like a weight has been lifted, and both are glad Cellic now knows of the sibling he never knew he had.

The last part I want to talk about is the illustration posted above. Of Cellic and Caspius.
So, I have a headcanon for Gordos. They don't sleep, and they don't really dream. (Except by Demon Beast) I think I mentioned the sleeping part somewhere, but now that I'm thinking about it I don't think I have. I never posted the actual illustration for it- It was so very long ago, like right when I introduced Bullet into the series. I felt like it was kinda useless information, but now I feel like I wish I posted it. XD Anyways, Gordon was taught by Bullet how to sleep, but for Cellic, he would stay up all night until Bate had to show him how. Which kinda confused Cellic at first, but as time went on, he got used to it.
Cellic wasn't aware what was happening when he saw the Puff in front of him, but he instantly connected him to Caspius. The puff just smiles brightly at the young Gordo and thanks him before telling him to take care of their parents. Cellic hasn't had a proper dream since that encounter, BUT something does happen to Cellic the day after. Which will be revealed later if I decide to go through with it.
--------------------
Other little tidbits.
I do really love Caspius. He was originally going to be the first born of the cousins. He would have a very strong bond with his Grandfather Bate. (I have very old fanfics of them before I decided his fate) This was before I made Atticus, so Caspius' bond with Bate was like that of Atticus. Exactly like Atticus, because Caspius was originally the Atticus of the group before Atticus was even created, if that makes sense. I believe Atti was created in 2016, and Caspius was 2015- I need to double check. XP Caspius would call Bate "Ouji", (Aka, the nickname Atti calls Bate) and Bate would always spend time teaching him how to fly. ^o^
I love the idea of Caspius taking over his Grandmother's candy shop. If you didn't know, Marlo's mother "Molly Malt" owns the candy store in Kalmari town. I picture him having bits of candy stuck to his wings, and him always nibbling on sweets.
He would be a creator of all things chocolate and candy, and would use his parent's business to ship all his confections throughout West Nova. He would be a world renowned confectionist once he reaches adulthood (Sorta how like Atticus is with his plants) and many would flock to Kalmari Town to purchase his sweets.
------------
But yeah, I believe that's all I wanted to talk about. It's a shame he's not in the main series, because I really do love him. Aside from concept art of other babs that never made the cut, he was the first official cousin who was supposed to be part of Kirby's arc, and there are times where I do wish he were alive.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading about this lil' bab. ;v;
