I finally get to a part of my series that I’ve been waiting YEARS to post. ( I actually hinted about it here in 2014. but no info was ever given caused it would've spoiled this lol)
Yes, believe it or not, Null and Shieff were once Guardians. That's why they look different from the common Dark Matter. They still have some if their bird traits in them- Frills, Markings. And if you look REALLY closely in the first page of this chapter, you can see them in their original form with their Master. So, who is their Master? I can’t say. It’ll be revealed real soon, but I actually revealed it- (I literally drew it out) in a past chapter. If you don’t feel like searching, just wait a bit longer since it’s the next page. XD

Gumball Warrior Theory: Dark Matter’s Corruption
I have mentioned this before, but I will relay it again. There is no such thing as a good Dark Matter. In my series, they are the embodiment of pure greed, and evil. They want to control what they see, and will destroy everything in their path to get what they want.
IF a Dark Matter (Who isn't possessing anyone at the moment) shows signs of selflessness, or friendliness, it is caused by the lingering effects of a creature they TRIED to possess….but failed. This, however, is extremely rare because the creature they tried to possess resisted their control and overpowered and controlled the Dark Matter instead. (Uno reverse card, basically) XDDD
There is a character in my series that has done this, and I’m sure it’s not hard to find who it is since only Dark Matter have the ability to control another Dark Matter. And if you haven’t figured it out, it’s TS Gooey. That being said, IF said Dark Matter separated from Gooey, they will eventually lose their empathy and return evil within a matter of minutes.

Anyways, older Dark Matter are stubborn, keen, and smart…the youngest are usually very impulsive and quite stupid. Rash and don’t think ahead. When they want something, they have two methods:
1. Controlling and possessing the body of another. ( Also here’s a SUPER old illustration when Bate talked about it)
If the creature they seek is weak, and gives up the will to live, the Dark Matter will take over their body and become its new host. Usually the Dark Matter will take on the form of the creature they possess. But in Null and Shieff’s case (and yes, EVEN Gooey), they still take on the form of Dark Matter. I’m unable to say why, but I’ll reveal it in the next page. Let’s just say they are…VERY special Guardians.
2. Corruption
Strong willed creatures require corruption before the possession. They will transmit a type of wavelength that will slowly corrupt the user. In time, they will lose sight of who they are. They will forget everything they held so dearly; family, friends, loved ones. They will lose the feeling of happiness, and darkness will slowly take it’s place.
We have seen this happen with Bate in page 27 of Grand Illusion. You will see Bate ask why he can’t remember the good memories Ellie. He said only hatred and anger took place of all of his happiest memories. I also talked more about it here in this nifty little guide.
Recovering from corruption is a VERY difficult journey. Some may not make it out alive, but Bate was one of the few who recovered without the help of his Guardian. Of course, he almost killed himself in the process of it. Which of course is considered taboo amongst their kind, as said by Null.
Other small notes:
I haven’t talked about it much, but Guardians each have a special ability. You’ve seen Alto’s ability when he used it on Mara. He has the power to control dreams and project them from memories deep within their subconscious.You’ve also seen Null’s ability! 8D He has the power to…wait for it…CREATE ILLUSIONS!!! Pretty obvious for that one, lol. Bossa, Drani, Nova, Ekon, Margalo and Atka, have not been revealed yet. I don’t think it’ll be massive spoilers for some of them so I’ll list a few below. They may be subject to change but not likely.
Drani has the power to take the form of a giant fire phoenix. Able to burn through, and stop anything in its path.
Margalo has the power to temporarily control someone. This can only be achieved if Margalo places both her tails on them. Once placed, she can control their movements for a short while.
If touched by Nova’s tails, the item or creature that are affected are unable to move. They feel weighted down- like someone strapped a 200lb metal cuff on them. This effects them mentally. They aren’t actually weighed down and it effects their…cognitive function? If that’s the right word for it. The feeling will go away in several minutes unless Nova keeps his tails on them.
Bossa has the ability to disrupt ones motor skills. The user forgets how to move. Left is up. Up is right. Right is down, ect. This lasts for several minutes unless Bossa keeps his tails on them, OR they somehow adapt to these new limitations.
Melody has the ability to slow time. Her chirping, and not her tails cause this reaction. Once the user hears her voice, their sense of time is distorted and slowed. As long as they are in direct contact of the noise, they will remain in this state.
Gooey (Slight spoiler alert) has the ability to shape shift. Though due to being corrupted, he only has the ability to shift back into his Guardian form…BIG SPOILER I already showed some of you how he looks like on discord. 8D Everyone else is gonna wait, sorry! XDDD
Ekon and Atka are surprises!! Can't say them yet!
That being said, some corrupted Guardians DO have the ability to use their power. Like Null! Just a little fun fact for ya! 8D
ALSOOO!! If you're wondering why Null never told Bate during the Grand Illusion arc, it will be explained later in this chapter! Lots of important stuff has yet to be revealed! =)
