Will We Take That Chance?

“Hey, remember when we used to come up here as kids, and I’d try to lift you into the air so we can fly together?”

Joining the puff, Cite mused from their childhood memories. “Yeah. I also remember Bate coming to our aid when you couldn’t hold me any longer…more times than we'd like to admit.”

“I was still a kid. After training with Teacher Ramset for all these years, I’m not as weak as I once was.” He flexed his arms as he walked towards the edge to take in the view of the cliff side. “If I were to do it now, I’d lift you up no problem.”

“Ah, y-yeah…” Cite said, cracking a smile but still keeping his distance from the edge since he had a good feeling what he was implying. “I’m sure you can, but I think I'll pass.”

“Aw, c’mon, Cite!” He held out his hand. “It’ll be fun!”

Inching back further to a safer distance, the Squid tried to decline his offer. “M-m..maybe….n-n..next time, alright?”

“Cite, you have nothing to be scared about.” He encouraged some more.

“I’m n….n-not scared.” His fins drooped, shaking his head.

“I can hear it in your voice.” He pointed out once he heard him starting to stutter. “I promise I won’t let anything happen to you- you’re my best friend for Novas sake.”

Balancing on the edge, he looked back at his friend.

"So, are you ready to give it a go?"

As kids, Dragato always tried to carry Cite since he wanted him to fly by his side as well. Unfortunately, Bate had to always supervise since Dragato could only hold Cite for so long before his grip started to weaken. Bate allowed the Squid to ride on his back whenever he and Dragato wanted to fly, but once Cite grew older, he was unable to anymore. Now as adults, Dragato wants to try one more time.
