The Plum Queen and the Ice Scorpion
(Tula / Rupion / Kirby)
Summer is finally making its way to Kalmari, and while many of its residents are planning to celebrate The First Summer together, one warrior in particular is packing his bags to head off to South Nova. Kirby, a young Star Warrior, is going spend his first year away from Kalmari Town's biggest celebration to spend it with his cousin, Tula. He made a promise to visit once summer arrived since they arranged a personal escort for him. It's been almost 2 years since he last saw her, and just thinking about spending the next 2 weeks catching up couldn't help but put a smile on his face.
"Kirby, are you sure you don't want me or your mother to come along." Meta Knight's voice pipes up as he walks towards the warrior. "This will be the first time traveling to South Nova on your own, are you sure you'll be okay?"
"I have the directions to the outskirts memorized, there's nothing to worry about, Dad." He gives him a smile.
"I know....just please be careful." The elder places a hand on his shoulder, still uneasy about him going on his own. Although he's a young adult, he's still his son. "You know how I feel about South Nova. If you get lost -"
"Dad, Dad, dad, relax. Nothing's going to happen. Tula arranged an escort for me, there's no way I'll get lost." He quickly cuts him off. For the sake of not making his Dad worry, he speaks in a more upbeat manner. "I'm not a little baby anymore, you and mom trained and raised me well enough. I'll be okay. Promise."
Zipping up his backpack, Kirby walks over to the old warrior, and gives him a small hug. "You, Mom and Tulok have fun and enjoy yourselves. Just be sure to bring lots of candy from the celebration." He says, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Sure, of course." Meta slightly chuckles. With a small pat on the head, the warrior motions Kirby out of the house so he could finally start heading to South Nova.
"Be safe, Kirby. And have fun." He tries not to let his parental side take over. Kirby seems super excited about visiting his cousin. He should lighten up and do the same.
"I'll see you soon!" Kirby happily waves goodbye as he begins to flap his wings, as he heads to the outskirts. "Bye, Dad!"
"Goodbye, Kirby." Meta give a small wave as he takes off. He watches as the little Puff flies off into the distance, and once he couldn't spot him anymore, he makes his way back inside.

Once landing in the outskirts of South Nova, the first thing Kirby notices is it's not as harsh and fridged like previous visits. He would be barely able to see his hand in front of his face, but it's surprisingly clear. It's actually quite pleasant, and Kirby uses the time to take in his surroundings since it's very quiet and peaceful. When the weather isn't out to kill you, South Nova is quite a beautiful planet to visit.
After a few minutes to taking in the surrounding, Kirby continues his trek since the cold atmosphere is starting to nip at his wings. It didn't take long for a familiar voice calling out to him.
"Kirby!!!" She yells.
The warrior quickly starts to look around in excitement. The area is still shrouded in a thick coat of mist, so when he didn't spot anyone, he calls out as well.
"Tula, is that you?! He beams.
Silence fills the air one more, and Kirby continues to scan the area until a faint silhouette finally emerges from the snowy mist.
"Kirby!!" Tula practically jumps on the other in excitement. She gives him one of the biggest hugs she could muster before pulling away. "It's been so long. How are you, it's good to see you!!"
"It's good to see you, too!" Kirby lets out a small laugh. "I didn't expect you to be my escort, aren't you cold? Sweet Nova, it feels like my wings are gonna freeze over."
"Nah, it's nothing I can't handle!" She exclaims. "Oh, and I'm not alone~" She gives a small laugh, and points behind him. "Kirby, you remember Rupion~"
"R...Rupoion?" He repeats before he feels a cold hand grab his shoulder. Kirby slightly jumps from the touch, and quickly turns around to see someone towering over him- Rupion.
An Ice Leo he's met a few times when they were younger. They got along pretty well- though as time passed, and the two became busy with their personal life and job, they haven't had a chance to see each other. It must have been almost 10 or so years since they last met! Kirby couldn't believe how tall he's become. He's almost the size of his Grandfather Wulfric!
Rupion looks down at the warrior before a huge smile forms on his face. "Wow, look at you, "Hero of Pop Star." It's been so long, how have you been? Tula's been informing me about all the Demon Beasts you've been battling back at home- you'll have to tell me all about it once we reach my place."
"Y-you have?" Kirby glances at Tula as they begin walking back to the village.
"Of course! Rupion loves to hear about stories from the outside. He knows all about Atti, Tali, Cellic, and my dads, and of course you, Kirby~! Y'know, Rupion is considered one of the top fighters in the village. Once I told him about all your battles on Pop Star, he's been so eager to meet you again."
"It'll be great if we can have a small sparring session during vour visit " Rupion adds "I teach a small class every weekend, and l'm sure the ice cubes would love to see how we veterans duke it out."
"O-oh, yeah- that sounds great!" Kirby nods in agreement. "I never faced off against an Ice Leo before...ah, except for my mom."
"I suspect I'm in for quite the battle, then. Did you know Lady Kesuk and my parents were paired in the same hunting squad? Long before I was even born, they were considered one of the strongest! Not to mention, she was trained by 3 chiefs- two of them being strongest Ice Leos in a generation- Elder Frost and Chief Wulfric. Having the chance to battle her son will be quite an honor."
"Gee, you know more about my mom than I do." He lets out a small laugh. "Oh, and you don't have to be so formal around me."
"Get used to it, Kirby." Tula playfully nudges him. "He's the town's bodyguard. It's kind of his job to be formal."
"Bodyguard, ay? I guess that's why I couldn't sense your presence until Tula had to point it out for me. Despite your size, you're pretty good at blending into your surroundings.”
"I appreciate it, Kirby." He smiles back at him.
"Well, it seems like my cousin is in great hands while she travels here. Ah....speaking of which..." He focuses on his cousin. "Why do you keep visiting South Nova? You've been gone an awful lot when I visit. I didn't think you'd miss Kalmari's 'First Day of Summer' celebration to spend it here.
"Oh, I'm not missing anything- I'm still celebrating it here." She giggles, clutching onto Rupion's arm. "The whole purpose of the festival is to celebrate it with the one you love. And, well....I wanted to celebrate it with Rupion this time."
"Wait, really?" He questions, before finally taking a moment to realize when she meant by that. Eventually, her words hit him like a brick wall. "WHOA, HOLD UP!!" He takes a few steps back and points at the pair. "Don't tell me you two are together or something?!!" Tula, why didn't you tell me?!!"
"I wanted it to be a surprise!! So...surprise!!!" She threw her hands in the air before Rupion gently pulls her into a hug.
"You have nothing to worry about, Kirby. My precious little plum queen will be well protected while I'm around. Nothing will dare harm her on my watch."
"P-plum queen??" Kirby stammered.
"Do you not think it suits her?" Rupion says, nuzzling the Sasuke. "Just look at her~!"
"Oh, Ru-Ru~ My Scorpion Prince, I love you too." She nuzzled him back.
"Oh, for the love of Nova. Get a room, you two”
