Based off of Page 23 & 24 of The Bird and The Squid, when Ellie is drafted to serve in the war.
It's a painful memory Bate will never forget, and still haunts him to this very day. For Bate, this is truly when things started to go downhill with his life. To lose the love of his life, it will forever leave a painful scar. If he knew what was going to happen in the following months, maybe things would've ended differently.....
