-The Call-
(Arthur / Meta)
“Arthur…..” A tired voice called. She slightly nudged her husband the best she could to get him out of bed before calling out once more. “Arthur, get up.”
A weary groan could be heard soon after, and the Puff slightly turned to face her. Cradling their young child in his wings, Arthur carefully removed him so he could properly sit up. Slowly rubbing his eyes, he glanced at the clock and gave a small whine when he read the time. “It’s three in the morning. What is it?”
With less than an amused voice as her sleep was disturbed too, she pointed to the hallway. “The phone rang. Meta wants to talk to you.”
"Again? Just hang up and unplug it or something.” He stated rather bluntly. It was the fourth time his comrade called within the month at this hour. Ever since Meta asked him to buy one, he’s been calling quite a lot over the course of the installation. While Arthur doesn’t mind talking to Meta, the main issue between the pair is that Pop Star and Kalmari were in completely different timezones. During the late hours of Kalmari, it’s early morning on Pop Star, and unfortunately, it’s the time when Meta feels the need to call.
“Arthur, I’m not going to hang up on him.” Petta said as she got back in bed to cradle Atticus who was starting to whine from the wake. “Just talk to him and ask not to call us when it’s this late. He woke up Atticus again."
“Hm, alright. I’ll make sure he won’t call us again after I’m through talking with him.” Arthur pulled away the covers and angrily stomped out of the room. The Warrior angrily gripped the phone that was sitting on the kitchen counter. With annoyance clearly heard in his voice, the figure spoke.
“Meta, it’s extremely late and you got my whole family up because of it.”
“I’m sorry, Arthur, but it’s important.” The other voice spoke from the line, “I’ve been trying to call Teacher and-“
“He’s sleeping….like everyone else in Kalmari.” He said, hoping he’d get the hint.
“But….I’ve been trying all day. Have you seen him recently?”
“Meta,” Arthur rubbed his temples from having to repeat the same conversation the last several times. “Teacher Bate is fine. Sweet Nova, don’t you think I’d tell you if something happened? Now quit calling everytime he doesn’t pick up!”
When he didn’t get a response back, the warrior gave a small sigh and tried to lighten up his voice. He knew Meta was just worried. Being the youngest in their group, Meta still has a tendency to worry and get homesick from time to time. He doesn’t blame him. If he left Kalmari and moved to another planet, he’d be lying if he said he wouldn’t miss everyone.
