Before Bate dedicated his life teaching the next generation of Star Warriors, he was a mailman! >v<
Once he settled down with Ellie, he decided to look for a job so he could help support her. It was also a good way to meet all the Kalmari Squids so he could get to know them as well. He and Ellie would always meet up during their breaks to have lunch. He'd make some cheesy pun about how her lunch delivery is here or something. ;v;
