-Late Nights-
(Bate / Meta)
It was a chill autumn evening in the small town of Kalmari. Everything was quiet and still as all the shops were closed and everyone in the little town turned in for the night…..except one. Bate kept silent as he looked out into the horizon and gazed up at the stars shimmering and sparking in the bleak, dark sky. Gordon and his three students who reside with him had already gone to sleep, but like most days, he found himself restless. He was used to it, however. He’ll spend the night outside gazing at the stars, mind wandering about everything and anything. He tends to slumber off when the sun starts to rise, but by that time everyone is finally starting to get up and Bate forces himself awake until the late afternoon hits where he can take his afternoon nap. He doesn’t mind, though- it’s nice to spend the late nights listening to the unheard nightlife, and tranquil ocean crashing against the ledge he was resting on. It makes staying up for the rest of the morning worth it.

Quiet knocks and soft whines of a small Puffball made their way to Bate’s quarters as the timid warrior slowly entered. He stood there for a moment, and as the seconds soon turned to minutes, Meta’s heart raced when he was unable to hear his mentor’s recognizable snoring or mumbles. He dashed to the bed and he was right- Bate wasn’t there. He left his room and scouted the kitchen and restroom, but to his disappointment….nothing. With one last idea in mind, Meta raced to the back room and knocked rather loudly to wake up his other teacher.
The door slowly opened after a few loud bangs, and Gordon appeared…well, mostly as he was half asleep.
"Meta…..” He groggily said, “What is it?”
“Teacher’s not in his room!” He hastily replied, hoping that’ll get him up, “I looked everywhere and couldn’t find him!!”
Gordon didn’t seems as worried as Meta. He gave a yawn and just pointed down the hall. “He’s probably outside.” He said, trying his best to shake off his tiredness. “Anytime he has trouble sleeping, he spends his nights out of the house."
Meta ran into the living room and peeked out the small window. Sure enough, he saw a silhouette of two giant wings near the cliff not too far from their home. He turned around to face Gordon and frowned a bit, “B-but why?"
