So here we are with Meta and Atka again. Meta finds out that Atka was indeed the one they were going to visit (From the prologue of Torn Chapter), and also that they are close, childhood friends. >u<
Upon other, questionable things in this page you may have noticed, we also see Meta showing a bit of anger towards Bate. Of course, young Meta doesn't quite understand the reason why Bate did such a thing to protect him. It's a natural response for a child (or anyone) to blame another if someone you care about is hurt....or dead.
Meta, in this case, casts the blame on Bate. Meta thinks Bate doesn't care for him because he never bothered considering how he'd would feel if he were to die. He's angry because if Bate did care, both of them would try to escape instead of Bate ordering him to runaway. Unfortunately, Meta doesn't understand how weak Bate was at the time, and trying to run would put both him and Meta's life in danger.
I believe it's not Bate who he's angry at, but the thought of Bate dying. He hates the thought of not having another conversation with him, or the thought of not being able to share another memory together. And maybe if you wanna get a bit dark- He hates thought that if Bate were to really die, he never got the chance to properly say goodbye.
It may be a bit overwhelming for Meta at this time. The last moment they shared was basically Bate telling him to run and not look back. I'm sure that wasn't the last memory he wanted to share with him. He doesn't know if Bate's going to survive, and the thought of him not being there for the remainder of his life is chilling. (Especially for something as clingy as Meta)
Oh...I think that was it. ><; I wonder if Atka will do something to help him. ;^; As for the next page, finally ready to see what Ellie's going to show Bate? >u<
