-Tulok's First Word-
(Tulok)
“C’mon, Tulok, you can do it.”
Kes encouraged the young Leo in her arms. She continues to cradle the child and repeats her name in hopes he’d do the same. So far, no one had any luck. Of course, this didn’t stop Kes from trying.
“Momma." She brushed several strands of hair away from his face so he could see her properly. "Could you say Momma for me?”
Like the previous response, Tulok gave small babbles in return as he happily clapped his hands. He smiled brightly at Kes, and held out both his arms to try to hug the figures’ face. Kes moved closer to nuzzle the child, and although she was eager to get him talking, she knew when to call it quits.
“Oh, it’s okay my little ice cube. We can try again tomorrow.” She kissed him on the cheek before making her way out.
In the living room, Meta is quietly cleaning all the toys scattered on the floor, while Kirby and Gooey are happily chatting in the kitchen. Dinner was nearing, and the Leo walked over to Meta to hand him Tulok.
“Any luck?” He asked, placing the last toy in the bin before reaching out to take his son.
“No, not yet. But don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll get him to say it tomorrow.” She stated and headed in the kitchen to get supper started.
“Not before he says my name first.” He calls out, and held the child in front of him. “Isn’t that right? Can you say ‘Daddy' for me?”
Tulok squirmed in his grasp, and gave a small whine. His expression started to shift, and Meta quickly took notice. “Shhhh, calm down.” He rocked the child back and fourth as he paced in the living room.
Not even a minute without his mother and he's already on the brink of tears. Anytime she was away, even for the simplest of tasks, Tulok would start crying and wouldn’t let up until she returned. Then again, she's an Ice Leo, he's an Ice Leo. Cool to the touch, and even colder when held. He figured being held with warm leather gloves isn't comfortable for someone as temperature sensitive as he is. So he quickly pulled his gloves off with his teeth in hopes it’ll sooth him.
“That’s it, there, there….” The old knight hummed. He continued to rock the child and lightly brush his feathery wings or his hair to calm him. Tulok caught a glimpse of Kes when Meta turned around, and he tried to reach out to her, only for Meta to turn the other way as he rocked and cradled him. Unfortunately peace in the Meta household didn’t last long because the room was filled with frantic cries that caused everyone to stop what they were doing.
Kes quickly turned the fire off, and rushed towards the pair. Once Tulok saw her, his cries soon stopped, and his frown quickly turned into a smile. He struggled and kicked in Meta’s grasp as he reached out for her.
“Maaa-maaa.” He called out.
The room quickly filled with gasps- Meta and Kes locked eyes for a brief moment before glancing back at Tulok.
“H-he did it. She grabbed the child and gently nuzzled the side of his cheek. “He finally spoke! Meta, did you hear?! Our son finally said his first word!!!”
