You are Loved
Falspar / Pyrell / Tula
“She thought we were going to do what now?!!!"
"Falspar, lower your voice." Pyrell hushed so Tula wouldn’t hear in the other room.
"But Pyrell-!"
The stern look he received from the Leo soon after quickly shut him up, and the Puff ended up groaning in frustration as a result. He knew it was never wise to challenge Pyrell, especially when it comes to keeping their temper in check. Seeing as the last thing he wanted was to get him upset, Falspar just took a seat across from him and covered his face with both hands. "Okay, okay..." He muffled through his gloves before looking back up once he was calm. “Just…why would she think we would flat out abandon her?”
“We were informed that she lived in several different homes prior to ours, Falspar, we don’t know what she’s been through. Maybe something happened where she’s afraid to be left behind.”
“I understand if, I don’t know, we were gone for a few hours or something, but 5 minutes?? Pyrell, she almost broke her hands because of it. Do you honestly think that's normal behavior?!”
“And like I said, something must’ve happened to cause her to react the way she did. What we need to do is set her down, talk to her, and figure out what’s wrong. Once she tells us, I'm sure we’ll be able to get this whole mess settled by the end of the night, okay?”
“Hmmm...y-yeah...” He softly spoke, still hurt and unsure from it all. He honestly didn’t expect Tula to have a complete meltdown from being left alone for just a few minutes. Even worse, she ended up greatly injuring herself trying to get to them. Maybe if he actually paid attention or waited outside with her, this whole mess could’ve been avoided. Instead, he failed as a parent to protect her, and as a result, she ended up getting hurt from it- physically and mentally.
Pyrell sat up to head to his husband when he saw the doubtful expression on his face. He stood in front of conflicted Puff and gave him a supporting smile.
“It’s going to be okay, Falspar. Remember, everyone's needs differ from our own. She didn’t grow up in a home like yours, or mine or any of your comrades. She’ll require something different from us, and that’s okay. Besides……” He pressed his forehead against his and gave a faint laugh. "I’m pretty sure parenting wasn’t going to be this easy. We were bound to run into a bump sooner or later."
“You don’t say?” He eventually smiled back and leaned forward to seal the space between their lips for a brief moment. “We’ve only had her for less than a month, and I already feel like I’m doing something wrong."
“Yeah, well…you’re not the only one." Pyrell spoke, equally disappointed in his parenting abilities as well. "The best we can do is learn from our mistake and grow from it. She’s counting on us, and I don't ever want to let her down like we did today....

“Are your hands feeling any better, Miss Tula?” Alto spoke as he started to place the medical supplies back in the cupboard.
“A….a little. Thank you....." She softly spoke, trying to make as little conversation as possible after coming home.
"Aside from your hands, then....." The Guardian took a seat next to her bed and lightly tapped his beak on her head. "What about you? Are you feeling alright?"
A silent shrug followed as she proceeded to curl up in her blanket without saying a word. Alto figured she wasn't going to talk after Falspar informed him what happened. Like the others, he doesn't know much about Tula's past. He could only gather small bits, and assume some parts of it, but of course, being a Guardian, Alto was willing to do anything for the sake of keeping Falspar's family safe.
"Please do forgive my master, Miss Tula." He spoke as he helped tucked her in. "He is still getting used to being a parent, as with Lord Pyrell. They will make mistakes, like anyone else, but I hope you can give them another chance. They really are trying."
Alto saw her slightly move the blanket away from her face and looked at him. An expression of pain and guilt could be seen, and the Guardian's eyes couldn't help but soften at the sight.
"Alas, you blame yourself, though, and not them. I see that you think everything up to this point is somehow your fault; that you think my master and Lord Pyrell will leave you like all the others because of it."
Tula did not speak, but Alto could sense her starting to tense up.
"Miss Tula, you are so very young, how could you ever blame yourself for all that's happened in your life. You carry a terrible burden that someone your age should not even have. You are but a child....a child whose trust and spirit has been greatly crushed by others you thought would protect you. Your eyes tell the story of a child who just wants to be loved. You long for a family who will give you the love and attention you desire, but...."
Alto lifted one of his tails and wiped the tears from the child's face. "How can you have such a thing when the one you trust always ends up hurting you in the end."
"I....." She quietly spoke when he stopped speaking. “J-just want a family who loves me....."
"If you put your trust in my master, you never have to worry about such a thing again." He spoke.
“B-but...how do you know?" She asked, still uneasy of trusting another after all she's been through. "How do you know they won't leave or hurt me like everyone else?"
The Guardian closed his eyes and pondered for awhile while Tula curiously watched. His tails and feathers ruffling often as he thought about it, and eventually, he opened his eyes again and smiled at the small frame below.
“Because….my master and Lord Pyrell crave the same thing you do." He explained. "They wish to have a family after each lost someone very special to them. Both heartbroken and terribly hurt from their losses, it was Lord Pyrell who suggested starting a family. You do not realize how hard he searched to find a place to adopt. Each day was filled with rejection, and each day did his hopes of raising a family start to dwindle. He promised to never stop searching, though. He wanted someone to protect and care for with my master, and it was with a great amount of......luck did he find you."
When Alto heard the door of his master start to open, he decided it was time to take his leave. "I believe that I have overstayed my welcome. Miss Tula, I will not force you to trust in my words, or the words of my master. You have heard countless promises your entire life, and I am not one to judge you on how you see Sir Falspar or Lord Pyrell. This is something you have to do on your own. But I do hope you can see past what others have done to you, and put your faith and trust in someone else one final time."
With that, Alto stood up and headed out of her room. She watched as he bowed to the two figures when he reached the doorway before closing it. Falspar and Pyrell now stood in his place, and with all that has happened today, Tula couldn't help but turn away in shame.

The pair watched as their daughter turn to her side and tried her best to hide under her pillow and blanket. It's not that she didn't want to talk to them, it’s just that she was afraid they're-
"Tula, please don’t be afraid." Falspar spoke when he saw her curling herself away from them. “We’re not mad, please talk to us.”
The pair took a seat next to her bed and shared a worrisome glance at one another before saying that they had planned.
“Tula, please don't blame yourself for this incident. It...was our fault.” Falspar started and reached out to place a hand over her small frame. “We didn’t mean to scare you like that. I-if I knew…or, ummm...if I paid attention, then I would’ve noticed how uncomfortable you were when I asked you to wait. It’s my fault for not sensing that, and I…really hope you can forgive me.”
“The thing is….” Pyrell took over once he was done and tried to move the blanket so he could properly see her. “We’re new at this. This…whole parenting thing. We’re going to mess up from time to time, but we would never try to intentionally hurt you. We made a horrible mistake today, and looking back when we first met, maybe we should’ve talked to you more instead of trying to just….move forward and forget about the past. You’re still a child, and I see now that you’ve been greatly hurt along the way. We didn’t acknowledge that part of you, and the both of us are truly sorry....”
“If you give us another chance, we promise to work at being better parents. We really do love you, Tula."
“We understand that it will take time to fully trust what we say, but we will be patient and wait for that day.” Pyrell smiled. “You’re our daughter, and we would do anything in the world to make sure you’re happy and safe.”
With their little speech out of the way, the pair anxiously waited for a response. Even if she didn’t say anything, a reaction of some kind to know how much they care would equally suffice.
“U-ummm….” Tula nervously mumbled and fiddled with her bandages before looking up at the pair. “S-so you’re never going to send me back?”
Pyrell immediately shook his head and bent down to nuzzle her. “We would never dream of such a thing.”
“Whether you like it or not, you’re going to be stuck with the two of us for life.” Falspar teased and joined the pair.
She couldn’t help but giggle at his statement and reached over to embrace the pair. “T-thank you…” She quietly spoke and rested herself on her pillow when she finally felt the weight of the day fall upon her.
“How about you get some rest and we’ll talk more in the morning?” Pyrell suggested when he saw her struggling to keep her eyes open.
“Hm,” She nodded but reached out to stop the pair, “B-but…..can you stay with me just for tonight, p…please?”
Pyrell and Falspar looked at each other for a moment before facing the figure and happily nodding. Both settled down next to her bed and stayed by her side until she fell asleep.
———————————————--
“You’re nothing but trouble!!!”
“A nuisance!”
“You were never loved, you hear me!!!!!”
“NEVER!!!!”
“NOW GET OUT!!!!"
With a loud gasp, and a frightened squeal soon after, Tula quickly shot up from bed and looked around her room in a panic. Before she even had the chance to reach up to wipe her tears, someone else dried them for her.
“Shhhhh, calm down. I’m here.” A soft voice spoke in the darkness.
The Sasuke started to ease up when he heard and felt his presence. Her room faintly illuminated when he turned on the lights, and Pyrell, who was still up, reached over and placed his hand behind her back.
"I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up." The Sasuke sniffled an apology, putting aside her own troubles for now.
"There's no need to apologize." He quickly waved it off. "I was up this entire time. I'm not really much of a sleeper, truth to be told. Though, the same can't be said for some." From his side, Falspar was fast asleep since he wasn’t exactly a night owl like him.
"But even if I was, you do know it's okay to wake either of us, right? We're your parents, and it's our duty to make sure you're okay above all else, even if it's just a nightmare."
"O-oh...okay...." She said, though lacking confidence in her words.
Of course, Pyrell picked up on her behavior and decided that this could be an opportunity to know more about her. Maybe...she could even trust him enough to tell him about some of her previous homes. "Do you want to tell me about it?"
She shook her head.
"It'll make you feel a whole lot better." He persisted.
"I-it's fine, Daddy..." She quietly said as she wrapped herself back in the covers. "I...don't think it would help anyways."
"Are you sure?" The elder motioned both hands forward and placed them on the bed. "How about....I tell you a nightmare I had a few days back? Maybe after, if you feel comfortable, you can tell me about yours?"
Pyrell took her small shrug as a yes, and proceeded to grip his glove with his teeth and pull his hand out of it. It was extremely rare when he took off his gloves, but if it was a chance to help his daughter, he'd take it. He watched as her eyes widened in shock when she saw the multiple scars and markings on his arms. She eventually crawled out to get a closer look and glanced up at him in concern.
“They’re old, don’t worry.” He smiled at her worrisome behavior. “From when I was much, much younger. Some when I was just a child.” He then rubbed a rather large scar on his left arm. "There are a few that carry some rather....painful memories. Some where I'm unable to forget, and they end up coming back in the form of a nightmare each time."
He saw that her attention was immediately caught, so he decided to continue, "One memory in particular happened when I was just around your age. Someone who I thought I could trust ended up greatly hurting me. Other than gaining a few scars, they also said some....terrible, cruel things to me. Even though many years have passed, and I've moved on from that place, I can't seem to ever forget that particular incident. The words they say constantly replay in my dream as I have no way to escape. When I finally wake, I forget where I am brief moment until I realize it was all just a nightmare."
Tula's eyes cased down on her arms, and she instinctively started to rub them. "Do...you ever cry?"
"Many times." He admitted, casting his eyes on his battered arms. "We all go through certain things in our lives that could effect us on a greater level. While I try not to let anyone know about it, the truth is....I tend to feel so much better when someone does." He slightly nudged his sleeping partner.
"If I continued to hide and carry this burden on my own, I'd probably still be..ah, ummm.....a version of my former self that I'm glad I'm not anymore today." He said, putting it lightly. "And even though I still have nightmares from time to time, having your dad by my side makes it so much better." He said as he lowered himself to her level. "Tula, I want you to have the same thing too. You don't have to tell me today, or tomorrow, or even in the month, but I want you to know that we will always be here if you ever need someone to talk or lean on."
Pyrell expected her to give him another shrug and turn away since this was a delicate topic for her to discuss after all that's happened, but.....
"I....know you will. Thank you, Daddy." Tula said as she eventually gave him a small smile in return.
"Of course." He leaned down and gave her a small peck on the cheek, trying his best not to cry.
"Remember, Tula, no matter what anyone has said to you in the past, you will always be loved."

This takes place really early when they adopted her. Only several weeks in, Falspar and Pyrell still have many things to learn and work on with their daughter. Tula is still hesitant to put her trust in someone else, but after hearing not only what her parents had to say, but what Alto said, she will try to put her faith in someone else, one final time.
As for Pyrell, he was a victim of severe child abuse from his father. (Not to be confused with Bero) He could greatly relate to Tula, and tried to help her by giving her an example of one of his nightmares. (Which is quite similar to the ones Tula has) He can empathize why Tula behaves the way she does, and will always be there for her daughter when she needs someone to talk to.
This may also be one of the few times you will see Pyrell without any of his armor, for reasons he stated above.... ,xc
