The Night Before

Sir Falspar / Lord Pyrell

“Wow, just think, Pyrell. In a few hours, we’re actually going to be parents!!"

“Hard to believe, ey?” Pyrell gave a his husband a slight smile in return. Even though he didn’t sound or act nearly as excited as Falspar, he was completely ecstatic. Though the trek was far, and both warriors were now camping in the forest several towns away from Kalmari, both wouldn’t give this opportunity up for the world. It wasn’t long until they finally meet Tula, and just the mere thought of it gave the soon to be parents a case of the butterflies.

“What if....she doesn’t like me?” Falspar spoke when the sudden fear of her not liking them surfaced.

"Really, Falspar?" He playfully rolled his eyes. “You’re loud, funny and a bit of a goof. That’s every child's dream parent, she’ll love you.”

“What if she thinks I’m weird, though?”

“You are weird, remember? Then again, that’s what I love about you.” He softly smiled at the warrior before it slowly turned to a worried frown as he pointed to himself. "But...what about me? Do you think my appearance would scare her? Maybe I’d look less intimidating if I didn’t wear my armor or something...”

“You’re a giant teddy bear, Pyrell. I’m sure the only thing that’ll catch her attention are those chunky eyebrows of yours.” He joked and tried to shield himself with his wing when Pyrell tried to slug him.

Once the playful tussling subsided, the Puff let out a tired yawn and leaned against the Leo. It was already late in the night, and he’d like to get a few hours in so he wouldn't look exhausted when they arrived. “I, ah....think I’ll finally turn in for the night. I don’t wanna be tired for the big day tomorrow.”

“Hm, alright.” He grabbed one of the blankets he packed and covered him and Falspar with it. With the Puff nuzzled and secured by his side, Pyrell continued to watch the stars in silence until he, too, started to feel drowsy and joined his partner soon after.
