Kade / Meta
Meta kept quiet and didn't bother looking at the furious warrior that was holding him. Even though he grew up with the Puff for as long as he could remember, the sudden change in his behavior caused him to get extremely anxious. It greatly reminded him of Bate, and needless to say he didn't like it one bit.
"You're...." Kade began, but stopped to gather his thoughts. This time, Meta slightly glanced up and noticed his once angry features were now replaced with wiriness and frustration. Kade saw him staring back and started to speak.
"Do you even realize how lucky you are?" He chirped. Meta could only squeak out in fear when his voice started to raise. Even if it was chirps and whistles, Meta could understand every harsh word he was speaking.
"What if I didn't make it in time?? What do you think would've happened?!!"
"I.....u-uhhh...." Came Meta's shaky response as he tried his best to answer him. "I....d-don't know...."
"You don't know?" Kade repeated, clearly not amused. He shifted his wing forward and turned Meta around so he could see it. "Look what it did to my talon! I've never had it break on me before, so just imagine what would've happened if it struck you instead?!! Meta, that thing could've easily killed you if I didn't step in!"
Meta took a good look at Kade's battered wing and started to tense up. The long sharp talon on the side of his wing was now cracked in half. Multiple cuts and bruises were clearly visible, and Meta started to quietly sob from the whole ordeal that happened earlier that day.
Kade could feel the young Puff quivering in his grasp before he had the chance to scold him again. He watched as Meta reached up to cover his face as more tears started to fall with each passing second. Kade couldn't help but feel a ping of guilt from making him cry, so after a rather large sigh escaping his mouth, he gently placed Meta on the ground. Kade took a seat next to him and lightly patted his head.
"It's...okay....." He said, toning his voice down. "I'm not mad, you can stop crying now....."
The frightened warrior took a few cautious steps forward once hearing his calm voice again, and embraced the elder Puff. He didn't say anything aside from an occasional sniffle or two. Kade patiently waited for Meta to calm down before speaking. During this time, he started to wonder what his father would say at a moment like this. He was never one to scold the lot, let alone Meta, so he thought back to his younger days where Bate would lecture him when he did disobeyed and did something dangerous.
"Meta....I didn't mean to shout at you." Kade said, trying to explain that he was just worried about him. He's known Meta from when he was just an infant. Both grew up together, and even though they weren't blood related, Kade couldn't help see him and the other Puffs as family. If something were to happen to them, he'd be just as distraught the same way if he lost his sister or parents.
Meta shyly looked up after hearing his reasoning, and Kade gave a nervous smile in return as he didn't know what Meta was going to say after his little speech.
"You sound like Teacher...."
"Ahh...Do I now?" He couldn't help but laugh. After everything, that was the only thing Meta could say?
"Hm!" He nodded, but quietly added, "But I prefer Brother Kade over Teacher Kade...."
"Well, when you stop looking for danger, I'll stop acting like a substitute for my dad." He said as he got up and dusted himself off. He gave a small wince since he was still sore from the fight, and Meta quickly piped in when he saw.
"What's Teacher gonna say when he sees you like this?"
"Oh, ummmm...." The last thing Kade wanted was both of them to be lectured by his dad, so he quietly hushed Meta and started to whisper.
"This incident never happened, okay?" He stated, "We were off training, and....I......ah, accidentally collided with a tree, got it?"
Meta let out a few giggles and shook his head. "He won't believe that."
"Yeah- he probably won't, but it couldn't hurt to at least try." He said, slowly making his way back home with Meta by his side. "Besides, I'm not the one who's going to be grounded by this."
"You're hurt. By the time you recover, I won't be grounded anymore." He smugly stated.
"Oh, hush, ya Pipsqueak."
