Our Lullaby

Bate / Suna

"M-mom..." The young Puffball called out. He timidly crawled into her mothers nest and shook her. He wiped the tears falling from his face and shook her even harder when she didn't respond. "Mooooom!!!"

Suna quickly woke from her sons frantic cries. She noticed how terrified he was and hugged the frightened Puff with one of her wings. "Shhhhh...calm down, Bate." She whispered. "What's wrong? Did you have a bad dream?"

The tiny Puffball nodded and continued to whimper. "C-can I sleep with you tonight...p-please?"

Suna nodded and scooched over so her son can fit. "Of course you can."

Bate burrowed on the side of her body and tucked himself under her wing. He clutched a small handful of her feathers and wiped his tears with them. Suna still felt the tiny Puff quivering after the fact, so she softly hummed a lullaby to lull him to sleep. She picked him up and slowly rocked back and forth.

"Tiny warrior, don't you cry,

I'll rock you to sleep with my lullaby.

You'll always be safe in your mother's arms,

and I'll forever protect you from any harm."

Bate let out a soft yawn from her mother's soothing melody and rocking movements.

"The stars are out, and it's getting late,

but I don't mind singing to you, my sweet, precious Bate."

"I'll be there for you, to have and to hold,

"In the blazing heat, or the deep, bitter cold."

The tiny puffball stopped shivering and fell limp in her mothers arms. Suna smiled and placed her child next to her. She lightly gave him a kiss on the head and closed her eyes.

"So my dear Bate, don't you cry, just remember our sweet lullaby."
