DEDEDE DOODLES!!! 8D
I wanted to flesh out his kiddos a bit more, and wanted to talk about some other things about him, buuuut in order to do that, I have to mention Marx's dad. AAAAND! In order to do that!! I had to draw him out. XDD You may need to have minor knowledge about Gumball Warrior lore to understand!
Context below:
If you missed it, Marx's dad was first brought up in this 2025 April fools post here about Marx's family. All that was really known about him is that Grandy (Dedede's dad) sealed him away. Grandy passed away from the battle which left Dedede orphaned at a young age. Marx's dad has been pretty much biding his time until he'a able to get out.
While he was sealed away, Dedede was able to meet his mate, and even start his family. 3 eggs is extremely rare and basically unheard of in their species. 1 Egg is usually the norm, 2 is rare, but 3 eggs?? It was truly a miracle! Cassidy and Dedede couldn't be happier with triplets, and everyone in the castle celebrated and cheered for their soon to be family!
But, before they were able to hatch, the castle was under attacked by Marx's dad. He escaped with the help of his son, and the first thing he wanted was to seek revenge for the one who sealed him away. But because Grandy passed on, he exacted his revenge on Dedede instead. If you look at the sketches, Dedede is HEAVILY scarred from it. He's sustained a lot of injuries and almost died from them. Sadly, one of their eggs didn't make it, and the others were damaged as a result. Dedede felt so much guilt from the loss of their egg, he was absolutely devastated while recovering in the hospital and would profusely apologize to Cassidy for not being strong enough to protect his family. Even after the recovery, he would constantly have nightmare of the battle that caused many sleepless nights in the castle. There's a small grave hidden in one of the castle gardens to honor their lost child.
The two surviving eggs would hatch several weeks later- a girl and boy~
Kana is the second born and will be the future queen of Dreamland. She's a total Daddy's girl, who will eventually inherit her father's mallet and strength as she grows older. But for now, she's just like any other kiddo who loves to dance and play with all the Waddle Dees wandering the castle.
Byrdy, whose egg received severe damage from Marx's dad, unfortunately caused the young chick to lose his eyesight. Much smaller and weaker than his sister, he usually has several Waddle Dee escorts following him around to keep him protected. As he grows older, he utilizes his other senses, and is very keen about his surroundings. He's learn to adapt to rely on his hearing and sense of smell to the point where if one were to spar with him, they likely wouldn't even know he was blind with how easily he dodges their attack. As a teenager, he's able to hold his own in battle, and is just as swift and fierce as his older sister.
