Hectic cheeps came rushing into the kitchen as Ellie was preparing breakfast for her family. It was relatively early in the morning, so Bate was still in bed while the twins were wandering about. Hearing Kade caused her attention to shift. She figured it was a petty argument between siblings, but when Kade appeared by her side, she completely set aside her cooking to focus on him. The little Puff tugged on her apron as he began to frantically chirp again.
“Dear, you know I can’t understand when you start chirping like that,” Ellie said, and lowered herself to his level. “Now, calm down and form your words. I won’t know what your saying, if not.”
Kade just shook his head and began chirping again, “Cheep, chirp, chirp, chi-rr-p!!” He cried and tried to pull his mother out of the kitchen,
When Ellie saw him starting to have a complete meltdown, she picked him up and started to hush him, “It’s alright, theres no need to get so worked up.” She wiped his tears, and looked where he wanted to go, “Did you have a argument with Emma again?”
Kade shook his head, and tried his hardest to speak, “C-ch….Dad….” He managed to say, “Dad…hurt…”
What Kade said quickly caught Ellie’s attention. She didn’t expect him to say anything about Bate. He was still sleeping, wasn’t he?? She carefully set the Puff down before dashing to their room, fear setting in that something may be wrong. “B-bate!” She called out as she flung open the door to run in.
“Hm? Yeah, what is-OOOUUCH!” Bate yelped as both sides crashed into one another. Bate was the first to recover, and he quickly sat up when he saw his wife on the floor. “E-Ellie, are you okay? What happened?”
Ellie slowly got up and rubbed her head. She faced her husband and noticed that....he looked completely fine. “Huh? You’re okay?”
“Of course I am, why wouldn’t I be?”
“Kade told me you were hurt."
"Sweet Nova, I told him it wasn't anything major..." She heard the Puff give a weary sigh. He lifted up his wings which showed a small crack on one of his talons.
