(Lord Pyrell / Drani)
Drani knew all too well about her master’s tendency to wake up during the middle of the night. It’s been something she’d been accustomed to ever since the passing of their caretaker, Bero. Forming their bond quite young, Drani could sense every minuscule behavioral change in her master. Any little thing she is able to pick up on with ease, so when his heartbeat started to race and his breathing became irregular, Drani immediately flew to his side to aid him.
“My Master,” She called out, nudging the fidgeting body, “You’re having a nightmare. Please get up.”
And not even a second later after she called did Pyrell wake and quickly sat up. Drani watched as her panic stricken master fumble out of bed; her Guardian instincts soon kicked in when he fell to the floor in distraught. She knew she had to be careful around him during this time since he’s not in his right state of mind and could easily attack her without a moments hesitation.
“Lord Pyrell,” She placed one of her tails on his hand to calm him. “Please, you must settle down. It was only a dream.”
Pyrell clutched his head in pain as small tears started forming in his eyes. His flaming hair, which he usually puts out during the night, burned greatly as his temper started to rise from his nightmare. Small flares of fire scattered on the steel floor below with each ragged breath he took quickly alarmed Drani.
“O-oh no,” She whispered to herself. Anytime her master is unable to control his fire is extremely troubling as it’s a sign that he’s close to having a raged induced episode. Drani knew how dangerous and deadly he gets, so she needed to snap him out of it as quickly as possible.
Puffing out her chest, she took a deep breath and tried to call out for her master. “L-LORD PYRELL!” She called. The little bird flew to his side and gently pecked him. “My master, can you hear me? Please say something!”
Pyrell clutched his hands in anger and swiftly swung at the voice calling him. “WHERE IS SHE?!!!"” He snapped. Still clutching his head, he opened one of his eyes and looked at the blurred figure across from him. “Where did you put her?!! What did you do with Drani?!!”
“I…I’m right here!” Drani flew closer so he can see better. “My master, I’m here.”
She quickly used her tails and tried her best to restrain his movements. Pyrell, however, was much stronger than Drani and she started to lose her grip fast. She let out a painstaking chirp as the Leo broke free from her grip and slammed her against the wall. Drani opened one of her eyes and trembled when she saw his fiery gaze.
“P-Pyrell…” She softly whispered.
“Tell me where she is,” He pressed his hand against her throat, “Or I’ll kill you.”
Drani closed her eyes, small tears forming in her eyes. Being pinned to the wall and having her movements completely halted, Drani knew she had no other choice. “P…please forgive me,"
Drani slowly lifted her tails and held them behind her master. The two pale colored tails started to shimmer and glow, and with her last bit of strength she slashed Pyrell’s back with a tremendous amount of force. Instantaneously Pyrell’s grip on Drani loosened, and the enraged Leo fell to the floor.
The little bird hit the floor with a thud, but soon recovered and went towards Pyrell. Tears forming in her eyes, she cried out for her injured master.
“Lord Pyrell, are you okay? P-please speak to me!” She cried.
It wasn’t long until the limp body sightly budged, and Drani gave an alarmed chirp.
“M-my master!” She called out, and immediately hugged him. She felt a shaky arm around her body as he too returned the hug. She looked up and saw a worried, but faint smile on his face.
“D-Drani, you’re okay. I…..was so worried.” He softly spoke, completely unaware that everything that just happened was only a dream. “Did….did they hurt you?"
"O-of course not," She spoke a soft ,comforting voice as she didn't feel like it was necessary to tell him what really happened, "Y-you were there to protect me, after all."
