-Bad Nickname-
(Bate / Meta)
Meta gave an unsure glance and the Sasuke smiling in front of him. He wasn't sure if he was telling the truth or lying to him. He contemplated his thoughts, still weary about the whole thing. Bate always told him to be cautious of the Sasuke- for even though he was a teacher, he wasn’t a very reliable one outside of class.
"Are you sure?" Meta asked again, "How come I never heard anyone call him that before?"
Ramset suppressed his laughter and tried to act professional about it. "Oh, Meta, it's because only really good friends know about it! I figured since he likes having you around, I should tell you." He squeaked, "Sorta like how he calls you 'Gumball.' It's only fair you give him a nickname as well, right?"
"Right...." His voice was still lingering with doubt. "But why that name? What does it even mean?"
"Oh, don't worry about petty little things like that." He waved his hands, shrugging it off. "I call him that all the time, and look- we're still friends."
"I guess...."
"Good, then it's settled!" The Sasuke started pushing Meta out of the forest, eager to see the events of this tale unfold. "Now hurry up and find him! And don’t forget what I said, okay?
I guarantee it'll leave him….speechless."
"Well.... alright, then!" He smiled, finally convinced. Meta waved goodbye and headed to where his teacher was sleeping. "Thanks, Teacher Ramset!"
"Anytime," He started to snicker as he walked away, "Anytime…."
----
Bate, who was finally rested after sleeping the whole afternoon, sat up and let out a yawn. He stretched his wings and gazed up at the clouds slowly drifting across the sky. A smile formed on his face from the calm, scenic view. He tore his gaze away when he heard rapid footsteps approaching him. He turned around and saw a certain student of his heading his way. Being in a good mood from not being disturbed, Bate decided to be nice to the little Puff.
"Gumball," He greeted, "How was your evening?"
Meta nodded, excited to tell him what Ramset said earlier. "It was fine! How was yours?"
"Peaceful, to my surprise." He started to get up. "Anyways, I was wondering if you'd like to join me to get some ice cream before I head back home."
"W-what?!! REALLY?!!"
This day couldn't possibly get any better! Meta hopped up and down in excitement. Ramset was right, Bate did enjoy having him around! He knew it was the perfect time to say it.
"Yes, yes, yes!!!" He tugged on his superior’s wings to get him to move faster. "Let's go, Wheezy!"

"W-what did you just call me?" Bate asked, not sure if he heard correctly. Surly it wasn't what he thought it was. No, of course not. Meta doesn't know; he absolutely made sure never to let anyone of his students know.
Meta stared at his Teacher. Again, Ramset was right! It did leave him speechless. Knowing this, Meta happily smiled and repeated the word; the word Ramset specifically told him to say. "Wheezy!"
And it was. That word Bate despised with a passion; That stupid nickname that he's been constantly labeled throughout his entire life. Bate stared at the little Puff, shocked and surprisingly hurt. He didn't know how to respond to that, he never did even after all these years. He started backing away from him; a bright, blue blush forming in his face. Embarrassment soon enveloped him, and although he was known to lack all emotion with his student, something like this was far too personal for him to care.
Meta noticed how quiet his teacher got. Was he still shocked from it? Surly a simple nickname wouldn't affect him too much. If Ramset called him that all the time, then why does he look so....well, hurt?
"T-teacher?" He decided to use what he regularly calls him. "Is something wrong?"
He inched a bit closer, but soon noticed something. It was something he never expected to see from someone like Bate.
"Teacher, are you....crying?"
Meta started to get worried when he saw the specks of tears slightly visible inside his mask. He never once saw his teacher cry before. Just then he knew Ramset tricked him. Saying that word did make him speechless....just not in the way he thought it was. Before Meta could say another word, Bate started making his way back home. Meta started chasing him, shouting out to stop the elder.
"T-teacher, wait!"
Bate stopped and pointed to the opposite direction of him. "Go back to your home, Meta.” His voice was quite harsh, "I want to be alone right now.”

"Teacher Gordon, Teacher Gordon!!" Meta frantically called out.
Gordon, who was busy training with a few of his weapons, kept them idle when he heard someone shouting his name. He looked over and saw Meta, exhausted and tears dripping down his face. Seeing this made the Gordo worried; it was rare to see him cry on his day off, but even rarer that he'd come seeking him for help. He rushed over and lowered himself to his level.
"Meta, what's wrong?"
The little Puff whet silent for a bit, not knowing what to say. Gordon was Bate's best friend, and if he found out he made him cry....
Gordon sensed how conflicted he was. He smiled a bit and gave him a reassuring hug. "It's okay, Meta. If something's troubling you, I promise I'll make sure to help you get through it." He saw the little Puff look up at him.
"So," He said, "What did you need my help with?"
Meta started nervously fiddling with his hands. "T....Teacher."
This caught his attention when he learned it had to do about Bate. Gordon thought of every possible situation that could've made the little warrior sad. "Did Bate not want to play with you or something?"
Meta shook his head. "No...it wasn't that."
"Oh?" Gordon started to think again. "Did he get mad at you for waking him up?" He said. "Y'know, he can be a bit grumpy about that, but he never really means what he says. If he said something that hurt you-"
"N-no..." Meta cut him off. "I...." Meta fell to the floor and hung his shoulders. "I'm the one who said something that hurt him."
"Huh?" Gordon scratched his head in confusion. He didn't think it was possible for someone like Meta to hurt Bate's feelings. Bate rarely shows that part of him to anyone, so he had a hard time believing what he said.
"Meta, I'm sure you didn't hurt Bate." He reassured. "In fact, I'm positive it wasn't that. What would make you think you hurt him in the first place?"
Meta looked at the floor, ashamed. "I....made him cry," He softly spoke.
"Cry? You made Bate cry?" Gordon was shocked when he heard that. It was impossible! Gordon hasn't seen him cry in ages. He tried to think of everything Meta could possibly say, but nothing came up.
"M-meta, what exactly did you say to him?"
Meta let out a winded sigh and told him what happened earlier that day with Ramset. Gordon listened, quite angry that Ramset would pull such a harsh prank on Meta. When the little Puff was done, he started crying again.
"Teacher hates me." He sniffled some more as tears dripped down his face, "He hates me, and he never wants to see me agaaaaain!!!"
Gordon picked up the little Puff and hugged him. "Oh, Meta....I'm sorry that happened to you. Bate’s quite sensitive about that. Not enough to make him cry, but....I guess hearing it from you really hurt him."
"Are you sure?" Meta asked again, "How come I never heard anyone call him that before?"
Ramset suppressed his laughter and tried to act professional about it. "Oh, Meta, it's because only really good friends know about it! I figured since he likes having you around, I should tell you."
