With her brother thought to be dead from the boulders, the seed of hatred has been planted by a mysterious figure Mara met soon after. Being told Bate caused not only the explosion, but the death of Gravel caused Mara to have a deep hatred for him. As a result, she planned on killing everyone close to him. Instead of forgiveness, like how Bate showed a few paged back, this is the route we see when hatred consumes someone. And in the end, Mara was wrong all along.
