A Frozen Leo's Return
Chapter. 9
Standing at the edge of Kalmari Town, Meta's melancholy smile reflected that of the Leo across from him. With bags and gear in hand, she and her father were ready to head back to South Nova. It was finally time to say goodbye once more. Though this time, it ended on a happier note. His torn expression soon turned to a smile and he asked when he'd see her again.
It wasn't a long awaited promise.
There were no unsure guesses or what if's....
This time was different.
"Maybe during winter?" She spoke, grabbing his hands. "I'd sure love to visit during the cooler climate. It was nice to see how Summer was like, but you know how us Leos are. If the heat is ever getting to you, be sure to pay us a visit too. You and your comrades are always welcome."
"We'll be sure to keep that in mind." He nodded, finally letting go. With a small sigh, he tried his best not to let his emotions get the better of him. He never liked saying farewell, and Kes could clearly see him getting shaken up. Reaching under her pauldron, she held up the star shaped charm Meta gave him while she was recovering.
"Until next time?" She held it out to him, hoping to calm the Puff. It took a bit for him to react, but he finally reached out and took it from her grasp. Cupping it tightly, he started to settle down much to her delight.
"Until next time." He softly spoke.
With Bate by his side, they watched as the pair made their way back to South Nova. Meta continued to wave until he was no longer able to see her. Bate watched as his student finally lowered his hand, and looked at the charm she gifted him. Not sure how his student was taking the leave, he finally spoke.
"Meta?"
"You're the greatest, Teacher." The Puff spoke, and turned to face his teacher; a smile slightly visible. Placing the charm under his pauldron, he joined his mentor's side. "I can take waiting a few months compared to 6 years like before. Thank you for giving her the opportunity to do so."
"Well, I figured you needed it more than I did. Nova knows what I need with an army of Leos." He chuckled. Using his wing, he wrapped it around his student and motioned him back to their home. "Y'know, that old storage room in the back is collecting a bit of dust. I'm sure it'll be a suitable guest room, just a thought." He hinted, giving a small smile as well.
"And you really wouldn't mind?" He spoke, perking up from the thought of it. "Are...you sure?"
"Well, only if you want to. The living room doesn't seem quite suitable for a months stay if you ask me. Not to mention we can't have the others tripping over your little pillow forts." He teased, patting his head. "We'll start first thing tomorrow, Gumball."
