A Different Style
(Sir Bate/ Ramset)
“Okay, okay, how about this one?”
Ramset holds out a pair of glasses with star shaped frames. He runs to the elder and pulls off the one he's currently wearing before placing it on his face.
Bate stumbles back when Ramset begins to do so, and immediately takes it off before the other could fetch a mirror.
"H-hey, what are you doing! You didn't even see how it looks on you!"
"That's because I don't need to." Bate looks at the blue tinted star shaped frames in disgust. "Ramset, I thought said you were going to take this seriously if I allowed you to tag along. So, quit asking me to try every style in the shop, and actually start helping! "
“But I am helping!!!" Ramset snatched the glasses from Bate's grasp before gently placing it back on the elder's face. "See?!!! Doesn't that look cool?!" He faced the mirror towards him.
"....I look stupid." He mumbled in annoyance.
"Stupidly awesome!" Ramset grins before giving him a thumbs up. "Everyone's going to love it! Here, I'll show you!" He eagerly looks around the store and spots someone entering.
"MISS!!!! EXCUSE ME, MA'AM!!! Could I borrow you for just a moment?"
Bate doesn’t have time to process what Ramset's doing before it's too late. Once he turns around, he is face to face with another.
"Oh- hello, Bate." She weakly smiles. Mira is her name- an older residence of Kalmari. Small in size for a Squishy, with speckles and swirls of blue and Green on her mantle. She knows Bate quite well. She runs the pharmacy next door, and sees him regularly. They break out in casual conversations when he visits, and it's not uncommon they end up bumping into one another in the plaza when they're not busy. It's not that hard to miss him, he stands out quiet easily. She just didn't expect to see him again so soon. He walked out of her shop not even 20 minutes ago.
"A-ah...h-hello....Mira." His voice falters a bit, as if to apologize for his friend.
"Now, miss!" Ramset quickly cuts in." Don't you think my friend looks so darn dashing in these specs?!”
Bate sees her turn her attention away from Ramset to look at him. His face instantly heats up in embarrassment, and he reaches up the take off the glasses before turning away.
"Oi, Bate! No need to be embarrassed, c'mon!" Ramset turns him back around before giving her a cheeky smile. "Excuse my friend. He's usually not this shy."
“I…well….they certainly look different…?” She does her best not to offend either one.
“Seeeee! Different! That’s good!!” Ramset playfully pokes his cheek several times. “We’ll take it!!! Oh! And how about getting another one in purple!” He hollers out to the storekeeper who happily nods and gives them a wave of approval.
"Ramset....." Bate is doing his absolute best not to lose his cool. Badgering him is one thing, but annoying other storekeepers- especially one he talks to regularly, is pushing it. Bate gives a tired sigh, and decides to finally intervene. “No, we’re not doing this. Time to go.”
Mira cautiously steps back when Bate maneuvers one of his wing towards the Sasuke, and clamps down on his head with his taloned wings. He lifts him up with ease as they make their way out of the shop.
She looks back at Bate, who gives her a worn, apologetic smile. “Hm, I’m sorry for the disturbance.”
She knows Bate isn’t one who craves spotlight. He keeps to himself, and doesn’t like unnecessary attention directed towards him. She waves it off, and tells him it’s quite alright. She quietly watches as he apologizes to the owner of the shop as well before making his way to the door.
“But what about your glasses?!!!”
“I’ll pick out a pair tomorrow. Alone.” He huffs. “Now let’s go before you scare anyone else off.”
“Bate, nooooo! I’m sorry! I was just helping!!!”
She and the store owner watches in silent as Bate struggles with a now irritable Ramset in his grasp. Ramset clings on to the door for several seconds before losing his grip. The door closes, and store is quiet once more.
“Say what you want, but his bumbling friend has good style.” The store owner finally speaks as she begins to place the assortment of frames Bate and Ramset were trying back on the shelf. “Isn’t that right, Mira?” She gives her a playful wink.
She just responds with an amused grin. Truthfully, she probably would’ve broke out in a fit of giggles each and every time she sees Bate pull them out in her shop. Someone as big and intimidating as Bate with blue-tinted star shaped frames?
Then again….
She softly laughs to herself, maybe she should’ve said yes.

Bate has to get a new pair of glasses, and Ramset (being the totally AWESOME friend he is) decides to help him out. XD Looks like he did more harm, than good. Ended up embarrassing himself in front of several of the storekeepers. XD
